SPECIAL SESSIONS
The IAS Annual Meeting has a long-standing tradition of providing a platform for practicing engineers, researchers, and technical experts to present and discuss current developments and future trends in electrical technology applications. Key areas of focus include:
- Industrial power and energy systems, smart grids, energy storage systems, carbon-neutral power, and decarbonized energy systems.
- Best practices for data centers, including their design, analysis, monitoring, maintenance, safety, and operation.
- Industrial lighting systems, including sources, display technologies, and drivers.
- Fundamentals and industrial applications of electrostatics, including electro-hydrodynamics, electrostatic measurements, computation electrostatics, electrostatic precipitation and separation, coronas, and gas discharges.
- Smart manufacturing, intelligent process control, and factory automation.
- Industry 4.0 and best practices in industrial automation and control.
- Regulation and utilization of electricity for controlling industrial processes, including machinery, heating, and electrical safety.
- Industrial applications in continuous process industries, including metal production, mining, petrochemical, and others.
Call for Special Sessions
Academic Special Sessions, while similar in format to regular conference sessions, provide an opportunity to explore emerging and specialized topics in greater depth. They may address areas that complement, extend, or are not yet fully represented within the conference’s main technical tracks.
Session Guidelines:
- An individual may not be the author or co-author of more than two papers submitted to the same Special Session. In addition, no more than two papers authored or co-authored by the Special Session proposers may be included in the session.
- Papers authored by the Special Session organizers are subject to the same review criteria and procedures as all other submissions.
- Each Special Session proposal must include exactly two organizers.
- Proposals with only one organizer or with more than two organizers will not be accepted.
- In exceptional circumstances, the Technical Program Committee may reassign session chair responsibilities if necessary.

- WITHIN 1 week of submission: Acceptance Notification
Conflict of Interest and Restrictions
Conflict of Interest: Special Session organizers must declare any conflict of interest involving submitted papers before the review process begins. Conflicts of interest include cases where organizers are authors/co-authors of the paper or have close professional relationships with the authors. The Technical Program Committee will ensure that all conflicted papers are handled through an independent review process.
Requirements for Organizers of Special Sessions:
- Promote the Special Session within the relevant research communities;
- Encourage high-quality paper submissions;
- Manage the review process of the papers.
- Suggest appropriate reviewers and support the Technical Program Committee during the review process;
- Assist in defining the final technical program of the session;
- Serve as Session Chairs during the conference.
- Please note that presenters and organizers participating in Special Sessions and Industry Sessions will not receive an honorarium, nor will any discounts or reimbursements be provided.
