Workshop Highlights

This workshop provides an introduction to EMT simulation methodologies and their role in modern power system studies. Through real-world case studies and practical examples, attendees will learn how EMT simulations are applied to utility and industrial power systems to address complex engineering challenges.

The presentations will cover insulation coordination and transient studies, illustrating proven approaches to the analysis of switching transients, temporary over-voltages, ferro-resonance phenomena, and lightning impacts. The workshop will also explore renewable energy integration studies, including system modeling, inverter performance assessment, and wide-area impact evaluations.

Participants will benefit from the extensive experience of Manitoba Hydro International specialists, who will share practical insights gained from utility and consulting projects worldwide.

No prior experience with PSCAD is required. The workshop is presentation-based and includes live demonstrations by the instructors; attendees are not expected to perform hands-on exercises or bring laptops.

Registration Fee

Participation in the workshop requires registration for the IEEE IAS Annual Meeting 2026. The workshop is available as an optional add-on during the conference registration process. The registration fee is USD 75 for IEEE Student Members and USD 125 for all other participants.
